Understanding Taylor Dispersion Analysis

چکیده
PROTEIN STABILITY Taylor Dispersion Analysis (TDA) is a microcapillary flow-based technique whereby a nanoliter-scale sample pulse is injected into the laminar flow of run buffer, which then spreads out axially due to the combined actions of convection and radial diffusion. Detection of the equilibrium concentration profile (or Taylorgram) of the dispersed sample pulse allows the molecular diffusion coefficient and hence hydrodynamic radius of solute molecules to be calculated.

Taylor Dispersion Analysis as a promising tool for assessment of peptide-peptide interactions.
Protein-protein and peptide-peptide (self-)interactions are of key importance in understanding the physiochemical behavior of proteins and peptides in solution. However, due to the small size of peptide molecules, characterization of these interactions is more challenging than for proteins. In this work, we show that protein-protein and peptide-peptide interactions can advantageously be investi...
متن کاملBallistic dispersion in temperature gradient focusing
Molecular dispersion is caused by both molecular diffusion and non-uniform bulk fluid motion. While the Taylor–Aris dispersion regime is the most familiar regime in microfluidic systems, an oft-overlooked regime is that of purely kinematic (or ballistic) dispersion. In most microfluidic systems, this dispersion regime is transient and quickly gives way to Taylor–Aris dispersion. In electrophore...

متن کاملAnalysis of Supercontinuum Generation Under General Dispersion Characteristics and Beyond the Slowly Varying Envelope Approximation
The generation of broadband supercontinua (SC) in air-silica microstructured fibers results from a delicate balance of dispersion and nonlinearity. We analyze two models aimed at better understanding SC. In the first one, we characterize linear dispersion in the Fourier domain from the calculated group velocity dispersion (GVD) without using a Taylor approximation for the propagation constant. ...
متن کاملPolydispersity analysis of Taylor dispersion data: the cumulant method.
Taylor dispersion analysis is an increasingly popular characterization method that measures the diffusion coefficient, and hence the hydrodynamic radius, of (bio)polymers, nanoparticles, or even small molecules. In this work, we describe an extension to current data analysis schemes that allows size polydispersity to be quantified for an arbitrary sample, thereby significantly enhancing the pot...
